While searching for a fun and constructive music experience to share with her daughter, Catherine Rose, Jennifer discovered Kindermusik International.  She was inspired (as a parent and social worker) by Kindermusik's inclusion of movement and literacy components into their curricula. She was also impressed by the rigors of their program development and the well-demonstrated cognitive, social/emotional, and physical benefits of participation. Most importantly, it was a lot of fun!  Jennifer knew of my love for both music and children and immediately approached me about her impressions of Kindermusik.  It seemed to be a perfect opportunity for both of us.  So, soon after, we committed to developing a partnership to develop a partnership to share our passion for music with families in the Richmond, Virginia area through the fabulous musical learning opportunities embodied in the Kindermusik curricula.

Since that time we have been teaching classes both in a studio space and at local children's learning centers and made many new friends.  We continue to look for opportunities to reach out into our community and as we continue to build on the wonderful opportunities we have been afforded.

Michael T. McMahon

Michael became a licensed Kindermusik Educator by completing Kindermusik International's educator training program in May 2006. Since then, he has been offering Kindermusik classes at Lewis Ginter Recreation Association in Richmond, Virginia as well as teaching ABC Music & Me classes at several area child care and learning centers

He received formal piano and voice training beginning at age 7 and attended Catholic University of America in Washington, DC to study Music Therapy. He served as Director of Music for almost 15 years at Open Door Metropolitan Community Church in Boyds, Maryland and participated in community theater productions in the Washington,DC area before moving to Richmond, Virginia in 2000.

While I knew that the professionalism and level of involvement of the duo would be exceptional, I was very impressed when I witnessed the class in action....All of the children were engaged in the lesson and the overall mood of the group was very positive."
